Governor Cuomo Directs State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to Assist in Investigation of Swastikas and Anti-Semitic Graffiti Found in Manhattan

Statement

"I'm disgusted by the report of swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti found scrawled on the walls inside a co-op in Manhattan on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

"I attended the official commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Nazi concentration and extermination camp at Auschwitz-Birkenauat on that same day, and it was a powerful, yet somber reminder of what the Jewish people have gone through. And yet it baffles me to return to New York and learn that, decades later, we continue to face a cancer of hate with the proliferation of Nazi symbols and vile acts found in our communities. It's an attack on all of society. It's an attack on you and me, and we will never back down from confronting these repugnant crimes. New York is one of the most diverse places on Earth, and we thrive because of our diversity.

"I am directing the State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to assist in the investigation of this incident and to ensure the person responsible is held accountable to the fullest extent of the law."
